RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set is a nationally recognised course that provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to work safely in surface coal mines. This course is designed to ensure that workers have a solid understanding of the risks associated with working in surface coal mines and the measures required to control and manage these risks.

Course Description

The Standard 11 Safety Course covers 6 units to make up the complete skill set – these are:

  • RIICOM201E Communicate in the Workplace
  • RIIERR205D Apply Initial Response First Aid
  • RIIERR302E Respond to Local Emergencies and Incidents
  • RIIGOV201E Comply with Site Work Processes/Procedures
  • RIIRIS201E Conduct Local Risk Control
  • RIIWHS201E Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures

The RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set is suitable for workers in the resources industry who are required to work in surface coal mines. This course is suitable for workers who are new to the industry or those who require refresher training in surface coal mine safety.

Upon completion of the course, participants will have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely in surface coal mines and will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for RIISS0004 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set.
