MARSS0048 Coxswains Grade III Skill Set

The MARSS00048 Coxswain Grade 3 Skill Set is an entry-level maritime training program designed for individuals seeking to begin a career operating small commercial vessels. This skill set provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to perform the duties of a Coxswain Grade 3, as specified under Marine Order 505.

Course Description

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to safely operate and handle a vessel up to 12 metres, comply with relevant maritime regulations, and apply fundamental seamanship practices. The skill set also includes First Aid (HLTAID011); however, please note that First Aid is part of the skill set but is not delivered as part of this training program.

Units Included

This skill set consists of four nationally recognised units:

MARI003 – Comply with regulations to ensure safe operation of a vessel up to 12 metres
MARK007 – Handle a vessel up to 12 metres
MARN008 – Apply seamanship skills aboard a vessel up to 12 metres
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid (not delivered as part of this training)
