MAR20321 – Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)

Throughout this course, students will gain a solid understanding of the key concepts and practical aspects of maritime operations, focusing on coxswain responsibilities, vessel handling, navigation, and safety procedures. Participants will learn how to effectively operate and control vessels up to 12 meters in length within specified limits, near coastal waters, and inshore areas.

The curriculum encompasses a range of core topics, including maritime regulations, emergency response, communication protocols, basic meteorology, and environmental sustainability. Students will also receive training in conducting routine maintenance, managing vessel stability, and providing effective customer service.

Practical training forms a significant component of this course, with ample opportunities for students to develop their skills through hands-on experience. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will practice manoeuvring vessels, performing basic engine checks, implementing safety protocols, and responding to emergency situations. Additionally, students will familiarise themselves with relevant maritime equipment and technologies.

Upon successful completion of the MAR20321 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswains Grade 1 Near Coastal), graduates will possess the necessary competencies to work as Coxswains Grade 1 in various maritime sectors such as tourism, fishing, ferry services, and general vessel operations.
